ELD Membership Procedures

Procedure for handling past due and lapsed memberships

A. Membership renewal is past due (3 months after renewal date has past):

The Membership Chair will notify the member of his/her past due status. In addition, the Membership Chair will inform member that after three months, his/her membership will lapse. The consequences of lapsed membership are:

1. Loss of committee chair and/or membership responsibilities.
2. Removal from the ELD-L electronic discussion list.
3. Removal from the ELD directory.
4. Loss of ELD voting privileges.

B. Membership has lapsed (past due for more than 3 months):

The Membership Chair, upon determining a membership has lapsed and having no knowledge of renewal problems for the member, will:

1. Determine if the lapsed member is a committee member or chair.

a. If the lapsed member is a committee chair, the Membership Chair will inform the Division Chair.

b. If the lapsed member is a committee member, the Membership Chair will notify the committee chair to remove the lapsed member from the committee roster.

2. Notify the Electronic Discussion Lists Moderator to remove the lapsed member from ELD-L.
3. Notify the Directory Editor to remove the lapsed member from the ELD Directory.
4. Notify the Newsletter Editor to remove member from the mailing list.
5. Notify the Web Page Editor for maintenance of the committee membership lists.
6. Notify the Program Chair in case the lapsed member has volunteered to participate in the ELD program for the upcoming annual conference.

C. Lapsed member is a Committee Chair

After confirmation from the Membership Chair of a lapsed committee chair, the Divison Chair will:

1. Notify the lapsed member that he/she has been removed as chair.
2. Appoint a new chair as specified in the Bylaws Article IX, Section 1.
